Historic Building Preservation
& Adaptive Reuse

From the very beginning Spectrum has kept historic preservation and adaptive reuse as a primary concentration. We maintain an in-house staff of highly qualified tradespeople who are well versed in careful disassembly, restoration and reinstallation of historic millwork, trim, windows, doors, ornamental metal and fixtures.

We also value our strong working relationships with many of Colorado’s most talented restoration specialists in masonry, interior finishes and stained glass. The combination of in house craft and proven trade partners is a recipe for success in traditional preservation projects and innovative adaptive reuse.

Our preservation management team is well versed in the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for preservation work as well as local, State and Federal requirements for landmark and tax credit compliance. We have been a team member for many restoration projects work funded by the City and County of Denver, Colorado State Historical Fund, National Trust for Historic Preservation, State of Colorado, Department of the Interior and Department of the Treasury. Our work has included local individual landmarks, contributing landmark structures, state landmark structures and National Historic Landmark projects under close supervision of preservation architects and designers at every level.

We feel very strongly about respecting the history of our built environment and being a part of preserving that history for future generations. Historic work by Spectrum combines the latest in sympathetic restoration technology with the best of traditional craft for an end result to stand the test of time.
